Spike tbar shoes

Spiky school shoes! These are basically an Oasap copy of the Dr Martens I used to wear to school – but with spikes. Awesome. Get them here.

The bows are from my Claire’s extravaganza a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been putting them on EVERYTHING.

Cat Hat

Loving my pink cat hat from Oasap – it’s so kitschy I may die of happiness. Also got some gold rings – triangle, circle and square  – which I adore but (typically) rub green off on my fingers. Have overcome this by painting them with clear nail varnish. Such a girl scout.

I got a collar as well: blue leopard print with spike studs. Yes. Yes it is good. Will post that when I can.

So busy right now kids, lots of roller coaster activity going on. Job, freelance, life in general – it’s just all mental.

Being Ophelia

Honor Clement-Hayes - Oasap

Oh YUM. Oasap sent me a long floaty green maxi skirt and it makes me feel like Ophelia. If you find me floating in a river somewhere, don’t be alarmed. I’m just playing.

Incredibly, this skirt is the perfect length for me. Every single maxi I’ve ever owned has required some clever hitching up or towering heels, as I am about the height of an Ewok. But THIS skirt is obviously designed for tiny little Asian girls, so it’s 100% perfect. Don’t worry if you’re normal though – this is literally brushing the ground on me (I’m five foot one) which is how I like it.

I like that the underskirt is separate from the netting because I often wear sheer skirts over a black mini skirt or gold dress, so it just gives me more options. I quite like the idea of the shiny green bit on its own but I think that may require further experimentation…

This skirt also comes in lilac, which I think would be VRAIMENT beautiful for the summer, and with lots of white and silver in the winter for melancholy moor wandering. With big chunky Dr Martens and a cable knit cardi. Mmmm.

You can see more of how I styled my new skirt on Chictopia.

Selling my Soul for Shoes

As I may have said, I’m now part of the Oasap Fashion Hunter Program. This means something very VERY important indeed. Free shoes.

It’s a moral dilemma for some people: do I blog about stuff just because I got it for free? I don’t have a problem writing about stuff people want to send me; I just won’t LIE. Not even to get readers following links that earn me revenue. No sir, not me.

However, there endeth the high mindedness. I just love shoes, so you’ll have to forgive me selling myself down the river.

My pick from Oasap was a pair of sneakers I’d had my eye on for quite a while. I was particularly taken with the description: “The popular winter snow platform boots with round head, and flat shoe sloes use of the cow tendon to make it wear-resistant”.

Hilarious English aside, they just looked so snug and comfy…I just prayed they actually would be on arrival. I picked a size up (size 5) as the shoes are padded and I found my last pair of Oasap shoes a liiiiittle bit on the tight side.

I got them in black (obv) because I am a big goth and also – very helpfully – there was a nice picture of a nice girl wearing the black version which looked very sweet.

That’s one good thing about Oasap: customer pictures are easy to access and really do help you get a better idea of the item you’re thinking of calling to you from the other side of the world.

On the other hand, you ARE at risk of Blogger’s Brainstorm: the terrible affliction that convinces you that if you just buy this one item, you too will have legs up to your armpits and a New York loft.

Where was I? Ah yes, THE SHOES.

Oasap shoes review

Well for a start they’re not leather, despite the amusing talk of ‘cow tendon’. I didn’t really expect them to be but it is an issue with these kinds of sites as the plastic is often rather poor quality and smells like those awful shops where poor people buy jelly shoes for their package holiday to Ayia Napa.

BUT. I actually like these shoes. Seriously, I really do. You cant go wrong with black sneakers. These are super cute and my favey platform helps me with that whole ‘long legs’ fantasy I harbour pathetically.

They’re lined with VERY fluffy pink fur which is super snuggly and makes them very comfy indeed. The tongues and backs are covered with a sort of Aztec print which is one of my best loved patterns.

Overall I’m well happy and they look awesome. Buy some!

It’s Been a While

Yuh, I’ve been lazy. Terminally. I haven’t been doing any writing at all. In my defence (against my own conscience), I have been dealing with a very distressing tooth abscess (not my own) which has led to many sleepless nights and I’ve just started my new role at work. It’s an exciting and exhausting time, with much thrilling panic of a refreshingly different kind from that which I got used to as a Web Project Manager. Thank the lord for that, eh?

It’s all secret so I can’t really say anything much at all about what I’m doing, but it’s all so crazy and new that there’s everything to play for and important contributions to make. I’m also back in a team of boys only, which is just how I roll. Does tend to make me intensely obnoxious however, on account of being the only team member who gets flappy about any problems (how do men stay so UNFAZED?!). I feel like a caricature of myself sometimes and really have to rein in the shrill whining…

In other news, I am now a blogger for the Oasap Fashion Hunter Program which I’d completely forgotten I’d even applied for. Free shoes in exchange for writing about free shoes? I have absolutely no problem with that whatsoever. I will be brutally honest though – I know lots of bloggers have mixed emotions about Oasap so I’ll try not to be blinded by their ludicrously hypnotic and kaleidoscopically shifting collection!

After this week I’ll make an effort with writing. I’m just trying to find my feet and haven’t even begun copywriting for this new project yet, so it’s strictly learning this week. Ta ta for now. x

Where Am I?
