The Hills and Dales of Fair Haslemere

Boyfriend and I quite recently decided that we were spending too much time cooped up in the house watching television. I get up at 5.30 for work and don’t get home until 7, so my weekends mean an awful lot to me, so we cast around for what we could do that we’d both enjoy and more importantly, didn’t cost anything.

My good friend Ben had recently told me about a place on the Blackdown hills called the Temple of the Winds. I was brought up tramping up and down those hills, but I’d never heard of it. I don’t really listen to Ben when he talks so I pretty much forgot about it until we were trying to think of things to do.

But then it dawned on us; we’re both getting fat and unhealthy and we have no money – let’s be ramblers! Let’s nick Daddy’s ordnance survey map, wrap some amazing sarnies in foil, and hot foot it up some hills! Since then we’ve tried to do a long walk every Sunday, and we’ve been EVERYWHERE.

It's a Short People Thing

But…we still haven’t made it to the Temple of the Winds. We’ve attempted it three times now, but as we always leave something in the slow cooker for our return, we generally end up turning back. We were so close last time, and we actually found the bloody trail map on the way back. So this weekend, WE’RE DOING IT.
